IPC Drainage Sizing Table (Table 710.1)
IPC Table 710.1 maximum DFU loading and maximum length for drainage piping.
Introduction
IPC Table 710.1 specifies the maximum Drainage Fixture Units (DFU) and maximum developed length for each pipe size, separated for vertical and horizontal installations.
IPC Table 710.1 - Maximum Unit Loading and Maximum Length
| Pipe Size (in) | Max DFU (Vertical) | Max DFU (Horizontal) | Max Length (ft) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-1/4 | 1 | 1 | 45 |
| 1-1/2 | 2 | 1 | 65 |
| 2 | 6 | 3 | 85 |
| 3 | 24 | 20 | 212 |
| 4 | 70 | 36 | 300 |
| 5 | 180 | 110 | 390 |
| 6 | 384 | 240 | 510 |
| 8 | 960 | 640 | 750 |
| 10 | 2100 | 1400 | 1050 |
| 12 | 3600 | 2400 | 1350 |
Notes
- • Slope: 1/4" per foot for pipes <3", 1/8" per foot for pipes >=3".
- • Vertical pipes can carry more DFU than horizontal pipes of the same size.
- • Maximum length limits ensure self-cleaning velocity is maintained.
- • Plumbing Booster uses this table automatically for IPC drainage sizing.
